David Burgess Ugly Mugs Set: MeatEater Trio and a "Michigan Hello"

Just picture yourself crawling out of bed in the morning, barely stumbling through whatever coffee-making ritual you swear by, and reaching for your favorite mug to pour it in. What does that mug look like? If it doesn't have a caricature of Janis and Cal giving the ol' "Michigan salute" from the backseat of Steve's car, something's wrong with your morning.

"My inspiration for UglyMugs was largely sparked by this quote from Steve while he was burbot fishing in Alaska: 'Some folks call them ugly, and I've done it too, but what you're getting at when you say such a thing is that they're unexpectedly, weirdly kind of beautiful.' I've always been a sucker for colorful "characters", good storytelling, and irreverent and punny humor. So, naturally, I've been drawn to the creative cast of mugs at MeatEater who continually find interesting ways to celebrate the weird and wonderful 'ugly' underdogs of the natural world." - David Burgess, artist.
